what do you miss most from those ole heterosexual days? what fantasies or plans were the hardest to let go of? (& of course that's not meant like, 'remember what you're missing' or any other sort of propaganda, i'm just curious.)

what parts of your parents do you see in you? are there any traits you're scared of getting as you grow older?

Hmm. What do I miss of when I thought I was straight? I guess there's a certain amount of un-questioning-ness which could be comforting sometimes (w/hindsight of course; at the time I wasn't aware of it.) It was hard to let go of my parents' til-then-unvoiced expectations.

Wow, I see lots of my parents in me. Physically of course...and personality wise as well. I think I get my sense of humor from my mom, as well as just certain ways of being in the world I can't really put words to. I think I get my philosophical parts and irritability from my dad...Um, I just really fucking hope that my dad is as wrong as I believe him to be about me someday growing up to be a conservative. But if you mean more in general what traits - parental or otherwise- I'm afraid of developing, I guess...I don't want to end up defeated, complacent, or boring. Not to be idealistic or anything, but it's true.

i think what i'd miss most if i had a same-sex partner would be the option to have a child together. & in the process of not identifying as hetero (well, or bi) i think that'd be the hardest for me to give up. it's not even about the whole nuclear family thing, just having been raised thinking i could see me mixed with someone else, and that not being an option anymore. (i think i'd get a brother to donate if possible. though when i talked to matt about this earlier he mistakenly heard me saying "i'd impregnate jerm.")
