So I'm really hungry right now and this entry will be brief despite all the amazing (good + bad) shit that's gone down recently. Okay, basically...I went down to the city for the RNC. I marched w/Jews for Racial + Economic Justice. Then I went to be w/fabulous queers for the kiss-in action organized by Queerfist. Then the cops sorta corralled us, divided us, and ordered us on our knees. They put those white rings of plastic cuffs to use, took our stuff in plastic bags, took our pictures, loaded us onto police buses and took us to the pier. Allow a time span of three hours w/hands cuffed behind back from the time we were put on the bus to the time we were waiting in line at the pier for all sorta bureaucratic bullshit.
Diesel fumes + dirt granules on the floor of the pens, segregated by 'sex' with a bunch of amazing anarchaqueers + trannies, jail solidarity in the form of Spin the Tampon and conversation. White bread bologna mayo sandwiches so vegans, vegetarians, Jews + Muslims would be comfortable eating hahahaha. The bran cereal was welcome. I made out with a really hot dyke from San Francisco during the tampon game. Being moved to the tombs sucked. So much bullshit. So many confused cops/correctional officers moving us around, moving us around, locking us up, chaining us together, moving us, complaining about our remarkable BO and spraying aerosol shit in our holding cells...Too much to talk about.
Finally I was arraigned and a girl from the Sylvia Rivera Law Project was there to meet me. Amazing. Support. Went outside saw kids I knew got legal advice/papers from a woman smoking a clove cigarette, ate delicious dumpstered apple + peanut butter and jam on whole wheat from the rad activists who were there for after-jail support. Hayden + Nicole + Brendan who had all been released earlier than me finally found me and we descended into the subway. It was so scary and it was so good to be free with everyone afterwards.
