If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
anarchism--I really do think that all these systems of domination are linked and that principles of inherent worth and self-determination can be put to work to shift things now, in whatever small and collective ways, within and without these systems. And I always want to learn more.
bois--With an 'i,' with a 'y,' I'm totally "interested" in a number of them. Kris and I joke about masc-masc sensuality for a reason, you know. Plus when I was really only just starting to negotiate my gender stuff, "boy" was too scary and I was very much drawn to what I saw as a strongly dyke-influenced form of transmasculinity.
butches--Oh Jesus, this is starting to get embarrassing. I fucking love butches, okay?
dirty hair--Not because I think it's hot or cool or anything, but sometimes I have it. Best on short hair. Conducive to developing bad cases of scalp rot.
exploring bdsm-- Because why profess expertise? Also because there is continual exploration to be done around desires and fears and openess, around power and around getting the shit beat out of you. (And occasionally switching, believe it or not.)
Francesca Lia Block--It may not be very literary of me, but she is one of my favorite fiction writers of all time. Lush, electric prose, stories with just enough fairy-tale in them to hold my fey interest, punk rock and original slang and people in love.
Jacques Derrida--is so elusive, but I can sense that it will be worthwhile for me to finish Grammatology at some point. He is all about breaking down hierarchical oppositions! Plus he was a kind of dashing man, roguish even.
lifting weights-- Probably I put this on here so that you all don't think I'm just an effete little schoolboy. But I really do like exercising.
not the self-same--Because I am sick of phallogocentrism and its illogic.
queercore--makes me glad to be alive.
shiny shoes--are wonderful probably because I have a little bit of a fetish for dapperness, especially when it's focused on well-polished boots. Mm.
teaching myself to surf-- A couple summers ago I actually made friends down the shore and after work all day we'd go out into the ocean and teach ourselves to surf. I haven't done it in a long time, but I'm confident I could probably stand up on the board again.
trannyfags--Because I am attracted to other butches and trans and nontrans queer guys, so in some respects I could call myself a transfag. I know it is a somewhat annoying term, but I figured more people might have it down than the alternatives---and obviously we've gotta read each others' online journals, right? :/
writing letters-- is actually a lie because I am notoriously bad at writing, sending, and replying to letters. I think I like the idea of it more than the reality.
