Did I tell you guys how my mom compared my life to a Weetzie Bat book the other night? I mean I was honored and impressed by the reference, but at the same time...

On the plus side, I do have a wonderful duck and no shortage of faith in the possibility of magical realism seeping into my everyday life.

I'm still operating under the illusion that I'll wake up in 7 hours and go work out at the art center with a bunch of middle-aged women and plastic steps. With that in mind I should go to bed.

Okay, I know I've been posting like a mofo, but I need to ask you guys something:

I am in desperate need of new music. A long while ago, I asked for suggestions and found the joys of Neko Case et al. Thank you! Now I come to you in need again-- more sad thick dark country stuff is always welcome, but I want other stuff that I haven't even thought of. What I don't want is tinkly indie music or boring whiteboy indie rock (like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: just can't get into it) so please don't suggest that.

So, what have you been listening to that's so good it sends chills up yr spine?
