Whosa happy boi??

Oh, cmon, of course it's me. Christ guys, couldn't you just play along ;)?

Sunlight! Copious fucken amounts of it! And mud! (ee cummings running thru my head) And my pale blue sweater vest, and delightful emails from various (heh) delightful people, and my bike not rusted to pieces!

((a note to the Jews who read my journal: is there a prayer you can say to give thanks when yer just really fucken happy? is that the Shechiyanu? it's strange cos I'm becoming more and more interested in being a bit more of a practicing goddess-worshipping Jew, and realizing more and more how little I actually know about Judaism. ps I'm also Reconstructionist so...)

Turner was a delight. He was really personable and thoughtful and sweet and his performance Debutante Balls was, for lack of a better superlative, amazing. It went down soo well. And afterwards, he put on his hot sailor uniform as a present for me and joined us at twat chat. Note: I absolutely did not drive him up to Albany last night at midnight, because that would be against school rules. Ergo he and I did not have easy and intense conversation about the trans and parents and chests and growing up. I certainly did not get to drive on the beautiful road of upstate NY with all those eerie sloping hills and dark bowl of sky. (But it is so fucken beautiful up here, isn't it? ;)) I certainly did not get back to campus at 3:15 and not fall asleep til 5 because I can't sleep without fucking and/or reading and since the first was sadly not an option last night I kept myself awake reading Without A Net.

Actually, I shouldn't say it wasn't an option. I know that C. is just as much a night owl as I. But I digress...

Anyway I am really absurdly happy right now, considering all the work that is smacking me backhanded across the face in really unpleasant ways. I want to get a huge glass of water and sit outside and read, and then nap because I only got 4 hours, and then move on to la bibliothèque to write some silly lil French essay.

I don't want to say I feel invincible cos that would make me sound manic, but I do feel a lot better than I have recently.

martha, my dear

I am so glad you got the lyrical reference!!

And are Reconstructionist!

I wish I went to shul more when I was home. Here I do Shabbos almost every week, but my shul at home is pretty fucken great. Lots of Hebrew, 'progressive' as far as I can tell, a few family-type queers, tons of singing, beautiful space...

What is going on with me and this Jewish stuff recently?! It's kinda intriguing...

ps- for a really long time, I thought they were saying, "Blossom, my dear." I grew up in the 90s, c'mon. It was a bit of a shock when my mom turned out to be right and it is indeed "Martha" my dear. Hmph.

what kinda wack-hole rules does your school have?

i just found out my school has a rule against climbing trees. but they dont' got no rules against driving hotties (that is, if turner is the dashing lad i remember from gendercrash) long distances late at night.

that's just mega wack-hole.

(p.s: beautiful spring days make me use ridiculous 90s preteen-style slang)

hahaha, my school doesn't let us climb the trees either because well i don't know, maybe it's an arboretum or somethin.

it's so good to hear from you because this comment was so funny.

maybe it was Turner from gendercrash...he's certainly hot. Was that Turner a dashing Southern lad with strawberry-blondish hair?

and dude, is mega wack-hole actual slang?

yer darn tootin' he was!
he told a hilarious story about going to his friend's debutante ball.
and a... not a striptease. more like a strip-editorial

and he was dashing.
and wore a suit.
i was fawning over a lot of people that evening, and he stood out.

and mega wack-hole is the kinda slang i use. and it's words that aren't recognized by a dictionary, so i think that makes it slang.

i also call my friends things like "awesome-head"
and call things "boring" and "straight" when i mean fucked up. and call places where you sit, eat and chat after paying money "faces" and call all manner of other things "situations" "machines" and sometimes "amish"

so i might not have the best conception of how slang actually works.

"faces"-- what's the (il)logic behind that?! I might start to spread its goodness here.

some email sent by someone i don't know to one of my buddies, in which the Vegan Cafe was repeatedly mis-typed to be the Vegan Face.

but now its use has expanded beyond this, so in the morning after class, when a buddy asks me "hey, you wanna go face face?" this means "go to the campus coffee shop, hang out, read the newspaper, and chat?"

and "face" can also mean a place, more generally... or a person (usually preceded by a descriptor). this last part comes from some combination of my friend chase being intermittently known as "chase face" and referring to people we don't like as things like "poop-face" and "stupid-face" and people we do like as "awesome-face" and "attractive-face."

i relate to almost everything you wrote here. what you wrote about realizing how little you actually know about Judaism, I think I have said almost those exact words several times recently.
i too am swamped with work and lack of sleep to the point where i am near breakdown (or grave illness) if i keep this up, but i am SO HAPPY today. :)

From Jews in the US: THe Rising COst of Whiteness by Melanie Kaye/Kantrowitz

page 133
And what is this new Jewish tradition we are creating and which, in turn, creates us? I once heard Judith Plaskow respond to someone's discomfort with new prayers reformed to eliminate male god language -- "Those aren't the prayers I grew up with," the woman said, "I don't feel comfortable with them." And Plaskow responded, "We're not the generation that gets to feel comfortable. We're the generation that gets to create a tradition so the next generation grows up in it, an for them it will the be authentic tradition, an they will feel comfortable." No, we are not the generation that gets to feel comfortable. But we are the generation that sometimes gets to feel whole.

Of course I knew it's you. Sorry I didn't hear you at his performance; but wasn't it great?

That is an amazing excerpt, thank you. Judith Plaskow and Melanie Kaye/Kantrowitz sometimes have rad things to say. Thanks for thinking of me.
