if that ain't love, then tell me what is
Feb. 20th, 2006 12:25 pmI woke up this morning with that homesickness that comes with not getting enough sleep, missing old friends family tricks and ex-lovers in this gentle kind of way. So, I'm sending you guys love from across the sea.
Speaking of the sea, Matt and I went up to Howthe yesterday on the DART and it was just amazing. The wind was huge and cold, whitecaps on the ocean and a harbor filled with boats---all I could do when I got off the train was sort of wave my hands around and make delighted noises. It was this sweet little fishing village, yacht club and a book sale and little painted storefronts. (I did sort of feel like a New Yorker in Frenchtown, though, the making-quaint of a little town that's not yours.) Oh my G-d it was such a delight. (Digs and Ren, we should go up there when you come visit.)
Yesterday was just this ridiculously fabulous day. The Jameson factory was as hokey as one would hope, and the hail stopped in time for our train up to Howthe. Then we made a huge pan of spanikopita and some tzatziki and rice and had a big family dinner with Shani over as well, went out to the George so Matt could see just what Dublin drag is, erm, all about, and ended up at this swanky little dinner club sipping gin on the roof. It was just so fucking great to have Matt in Dublin for the weekend-- makes me anticipate just what our house is going to be like next year.
The sky is this perfect watercolor blue with huge white clouds, so maybe I'll tie on my dirty old converse and go a'traipsing.
