So, I guess now's the time that I ask if any of you know how I can get my hands on Microsoft Word for Apple without having to pay for it.

Fuck the aesthetic beauty and intuitive design of Appleworks. As far as I'm concerned, Appleworks is dead to me. I'm just going to squeeze the last bits of use-value from its treacherous body. (Clearly my Queer Gothic class has gotten to me. Treacherous bodies! The corpse of a word program!)

Possibly my dorkiest post ever, but I don't care. Help!

www.openoffice.org

I don't know if it's available for Macs, but I don't see why not.

Also, about last night's tragedy: you might want to get a keylogger, so that way your work will always be automatically saved, even if garbled and fused with bits of emails, AIM conversations and journal entries that you may do while working.

Wow, you totally beat me to it. It's available for OSX, but the easiest way I've found to do it is download NeoOffice, which is basically OpenOffice without having to worry about X11 being installed. It will give that option at the download site for OpenOffice (they'll be right next to each other and you just click one).

It's only for OSX 10.2+ though, so I don't know if that's a problem or not.

P.S. Nerds to the rescue!

Yay, I knew you would get my back! i have 10.2.8 which is usually too old (whatever) for anything i want to do, like skype, but I will try this NeoOffice thing once I get more of the paper out of the way. (otherwise I'll be fucking around with installations when i could be plowing through my work, you know?) Anyway, thank ye!
love, me

Thank you thank you for the useful info, Katherine! I will try to find one of those keylogger things. Garbled is better than entirely fucken gone, as we all know.

your queer gothic class... and Das Kapital?

because you seem to be using surplus value theory on your word processor.

i can sympathize so hard. in that way where even hearing the story made me fear for the entire last chapter of my thesis.

speakin' of marx, i'm gonna go talk about Catharine MacKinnon's critique of the liberal state and the jurisprudential speech act. and dworkin and butler and foucault. all in a big pile.

good luck

yes, and the Grundrisse. Shit happens, knowledge cross-pollinates, what can I say. Besides, vampires are also about capital.

Thank you for the sympathy, darlin. Go print out yr thesis on some already-been-used paper. *spitting to keep away the evil eye*

yknow, I haven't read MacKinnon. I'm hoping I get to in Uma's fem theory class next year. She's one of those big ones I've just never gotten around to.

I love those big piles.

you too my dear.
