Jewish practice me manque.
One thing I would really like to do in Istanbul is go to shul. I have no idea where Ev lives in relation to the shuls I've found, but I should ask her about it. Also I need to find myself a good reconstructionist siddur or, failing that, a renewal one which will be replete with transliteration and feminist language. I want to learn prayers and Torah passages and interpretations and stories and history.

You can buy the Reconstructionist siddur as well as all the prayerbooks here: http://www.jrf.org/pub/cat-kh.html

Limot Hol is the daily one that Tony and I use. It's really lovely. If you have trouble getting it shipped there, have it sent to me and I'll ship it to you.

Miss you! XXOO

Fabulous Shloma, thank you- how did I know you'd cpme through on this? I'll wait til I'm back in the states and employed to invest in one (after having spent 60 euro on books the other day, oops). Thanks so much for the sweet postal-fairy offer. Also, I very much look forward to picking up correspondence once all the crazy loose ends here have been tied up and I'm back on the east coast. Mwah!

Yay, you've been spirited away from *spit spit* the midwest, where I've never been. (And okay, admittedly I shouldn't knock Chicago cos I've never been there. Still.) Um, I'll probably be working at the shore and coming up to see various people periodically when I can get off work. So, you know, I'll be back in the states in about 2 weeks and we absolutely should hang out.

I dunno if you could buy it, but the Jewish student group at Wesleyan has a pretty awesome siddur including transliteration and feminist language. (I saw it when I was there for NUJLS.)

Hm, but maybe one of the Wesleyan Jewish kids we know could get me a copy? Hmmm!

Hey Olicim, we can go find a shul even if it is not that close by. You will see, we will be doing lots of driving around anyways. Do you know the names of the places? And, erm, what is a shul?
I am so excited that you are coming :) The weather here is so gorgeous, normally it is not this warm before June, but must be our luck.

A shul is a synagogue, my love. I wrote down the names of places but I don't have them near me (ready at hand as it were)-- one of them was listed as being by some tower, I know that must be a fat lot of good. Also, *holy* fucken hell, I cannot *wait* to see you! Also, do yr parents like chocolate or should I get them something else for a housewarming gift?
