dear friends who live in NYC,
I will be around for a bit before getting a job and would love to see you. This will probably be around the 5th-9th of June, then I will be working G-d knows where and hopefully having intermittent schleps up. Obviously since I can't be in Dublin for pride I will settle for the corporate-sponsored one we all know and um, love.

ugh. pride. i live in the midst of it all, as you know, and am often tempted to run away that sunday. but dyke pride is always lots of fun, and usually ends in the best sort of debauchery. if you & yours want to meet up at my place for food/beverages/shade/bathrooms/whatnot, that can certainly be arranged. also, if you can make it back by the 4th, there's a queer beit midrash being hosted in nyc by svara (queer yeshiva folks) and jfrej (jews for racial & economic justice, where i used to work). no prior knowledge required except an ability to sound out the hebrew letters.

The JFREJ etc thing sounds amazing but I'll be up in Cambridge then. I'd love to see you over pride but I'm probably not going to dyke march, um, do you know if Elizabeth is going to be back this summer? Strange to think of that weekend without EE etc.

Indeed, dyke march can be tricky if you want to go as an ally, since the folks there are often quite resolute to read everyone there as either One Of Us or One Of Them, so yeah. Not sure if that has anything to do with why you won't be there, but it sure would be an understandable reason. EE should be back sometime late July-ish... not in time for pride, though, which (you're totally right) is beyond strange.

The first pride thing I ever went out to was with Elizabeth and Lindsay and all. Hmph. And yes, the primary reason for not wanting to go to dyke march is feeling like a)as someone who's not a dyke it's not my place any longer b)which would mean if I want to participate in what's always felt like a much better scene than the big ol' pride things I'd have to go as an ally but c)am I really an ally or is it just that I am friends with dykes? I mean, it's a question--plus d)very GAY or LESBIAN things make me anxious enough without having to put myself in a position of getting grouped as One Of Us when, you know, that's not quite so accurate except in the broadest of senses. Oy.

Yes yes me too. and kaeden and ryan and carrie! they put money down on a place today in park slope at 14th st and 5th avenue. It looks like it is definitely going to happen with this one, and apparently it's nice. Woo!

I don't have a job as of yet myself, so hanging out is a very plausible activity.
