Uma secured me *4 pounds* of chickpea flour, some of which I'll use to make dinner for her (and my housemates) the day after tomorrow. I'm so excited! I'm also just positively charmed that my professor and advisor not only offered to take a shopping trip with me, but ended up picking up groceries for me! It's a good thing I hopped on that infernal 7:49 train back to Poughkeepsie this morning so I could attend her feminist theory class.

Earlier tonight I took a much-needed nap as the dark was settling outside, listening to bad mid-90s girl-power music on napster (Liz Phair, if you must know, just to see once and for all if I like her and I don't. I don't like Kristin Hersh either, or at least not the album I paid $3 for) and waking up somewhere between rested and better and disoriented and cranky. Then I made a big salty stirfry with what I could rustle up from our near-empty fridge (frozen spinach, chicken gyoza, and a hunk of tofu thrown in with oil, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce) and ate it out of a bowl while Matt cooked a piece of meat in the pan and talked with me about the upcoming spring semester.

I have plenty of schoolwork to do and I keep making lists of how to get it done and then ignoring them. Tonight I think I should read some French stories and maybe study my high-school-level GRE math book, in lieu of attempting the math homework that will ruin my night by giving me that elementary-through-high-school-crying-over-your-pencily-tear-smeared-math-homework feeling.

My mom and I have been talking on the phone fairly often these days and tonight she called while I was napping to tell me to look at the moon. Before I fell asleep I gave myself a not very good haircut that did nothing to make my flop more pleasing but oh well.

Folding laundry and "why can't you have floppy hair like a normal teenager, darling?"

Oli dear, I don't know if you got my probably misspelled and half-asleep text message this morning, but I'm working on the logic hw now. I'm not sure if you talked to Winblad [I didn't] but on the question you asked me about extensions of monadic predicate letters: I think we were thinking of it backwards. As in, look at the schema you're dealing with and then play around with the extensions until they make the schema true (or false, whichever you're asked to do--if any extensions will make the schema do what you want; it could be valid or unsatisfiable in which case, you know). But in general on this hw, I'm just giving it my best guess and when I do understand, filling in the spaces. Did Uma give out a Butler reading today? If it's in GT I've got it but otherwise perhaps I could copy tomorrow?

I got yr readings for you, dear. It's from Undoing Gender and then it's an earlier article about Beauvoir and Wittig ("Variations on Sex and Gender.") And yr right about the extensions but unfortunately I can only put it to good use some of the time. I even went to his special office hour today (the cute boy we like was there) and, while I kind of understand some of what we went over there and gleaned a little bit from it, when I sat down to finish up the homework I was more or less still stymied. Oh well. I'd really like if we could study some of this together over the next few weeks leading up to finals because, honestly, I'm scared! See you tomorrow afternoon.

I heard you met Loren this weekend! Ze called me all excited to tell me about meeting New York transpeople/activists. Loren is the one with whom I'm not sure if we went out on a date or a hang-out session. I'm also unclear as to whether our plans for going out dancing with a big group of friends are a date or just hanging out. If you're interested, though, the plan is Caddyshack, Saturday night.

That sounds like a lot of fun even though I don't dance-- I'm going to a concert that night though. Please have fun on yr ambiguous date! Loren seemed like a really sweet, down to earth person and I liked hir a lot when I met hir.
