Okay, so I can't read bus schedules. But I made my way from Manhattan to NJ just fine, and drove down to the shore well enough considering I'm running on one hour of sleep.

And guess what?

I got the job. So now I'm a cook, at a "Caribbean" (let's unpack that) restaurant, working with a chef who I have absolutely no desire to bottom to which will be interesting for a change, and making $9 an hour.

Which, to be fair, is more than I've ever made ever.

Thank the gods.


ps- I don't have to train til the 30th, which is next Friday!
pps- and I get to work nights, 4-11, instead of 10am til whenever!

Awesome. Come down the shore and visit me! You can probably take a creepy NJ Transit bus to some place like Manahawkin or Tom's River and I can come get you in my car. Bring Taylor and Ben.

While having a desire to bottom to the chef probably makes work more interesting, the lack of such desire will probably enable you to work without too much distraction...it will also be a lesson in self-control, which is always fun...;)

Oli-mou, congratulations! That is great news. Also, I am leaving for Bodrum tomorrow very early, but today I will try to take an hour to do a quick reaing of your paper at the very least and will try to give some feedback. Would you please please submit a two-page summary of it to this conference before June 30th??? No need to be intimidated, I promise. And you will come to LA to hang out with me and Sara and will meet my friends there and meet Judith Jack one more time (blinking and smiling :))... This is the ideal plan I swear...
